Berkeley City College business.

It is an unbelievable honor to be awarded the 2024 Chancellor’s Trophy. When I started attending Berkeley City College straight out of high school, I was unsure of myself in many ways. I leaned heavily on the district’s resources to explore my interests and not only found my

passion for business, but my voice in advocacy. In these past two years, I’ve learned so much from collaborating with faculty, administration, and fellow students on projects and events to improve our community. Being active in the Peralta district has been rewarding in itself, so being recognized as this year’s trophy winner is an immense privilege. I’m so thankful for Chancellor

Gilkerson’s belief in me. I hope to pay her kindness and mentorship forward as I transfer into UC Berkeley and pursue a career in business.

The Peralta Community College District’s Chancellor’s Trophy Award is a district-wide award designed to recognize and honor outstanding students whose scholarship, sense of civic responsibility, and leadership give the most promise of future success and service to their community. The winner is selected from four finalists, who are the President’s Medallion winners from each college.

This year, Student Trustee Natasha Masand earned this award with her leadership and strong advocacy on behalf of students across the district.
