Roberto Reyes has been interested in auto tech since he was a toddler. His dad was a mechanic. When he was young, he even loved video games centered around cars. As a teen, he saved his money and bought his first car as soon as he got his driver’s license. After high school, he enrolled in CoA auto classes. He’s now one semester from graduating with an Engine Performance certificate in addition to specialist certificates in Automotive Electronics and Chassis. After graduation, he plans to work for a local dealership. His goal is to become an ASE-certified “master mechanic.”

The Ozzie Day Scholarship is a $750 scholarship awarded by the College of Alameda Atech Department to the student with the highest grade point average and the most units in the Atech Program. The scholarship was established in memory of Ozzie Day, the founder of Automotive Engineering and a long-time member of the CoA Automotive Advisory Committee.
